Samtal om Jazz

På fredag och lördag genomförs två publika seminarier i Petersson-Bergersalen på Umeå Folkets Hus. Under rubriken Samtal om Jazz inbjuds allmänheten och våra internationella gäster till samtal om trender och tendenser i dagen jazz samt om medias inflytande på såväl musiker, publik, arrangörer och kritiker.

Seminars: Conversations About Jazz Music
During the festival we are setting up two seminars under the frame Conversations about Jazz. This year we running a program Umeå invites Europe and beyond. We are honored to have, as distinguished guests, seven jazz professionals from different parts of Europe and Canada as well. They will be included in the seminars, as introducers, in panels and active participators in the conversations.

On Friday Oct 26 the topic will be Trends and Tendencies in the context of the jazz music environment in Scandinavia, in other parts of Europe, in Northern America and/or also els were. Introducer will be John Kelman, one of the main editors working at the worlds largest and most important jazz music web sight: All About Jazz.com.

On Sturday Oct 27 our subjects are focused on the media and what kind of influence media has on the jazz audience or jazz scene in general. What are the new trends in music/jazz media, reliability issues?

And as Madli-Liis Parts, Programme Development Manager of Tallinn Creative Hub and freelance journalist, reflects:
- Maybe it is a cliche. Media is just something that has an influence on everybody - musicians, organizers, audiences and there - as it seems - are always heavy discussions and many aspects about in every part of the globe.
In this round Madli will start as the first speaker shareing her thoughts with us.
