Ja, en konsert med bluesmannen, sångaren och gitarristen Eric Bibb är alltid en berikande upplevelse - en både musikalisk och spirituell upptäcktsfärd.

De senaste 20 åren har Eric Bibb haft hela världen som arbetsfält vilket bland annat resulterat i ett stort genombrott i sitt forna hemland USA. Eric Bibb är en spelande nomad som dras mot nya musikmöten och nya influenser. 

Kanske ligger hemligheten i hans själfulla och gospelinfluerad bluesbaryton, i hans vackra och följsamma gitarrackompanjemang eller i hans sätt att känsligt förena svunna tiders americana med samtidens uttryck? Bäst framträder nog hans storhet i det lilla formatet, som här på festivalen och duokonserten med den fantastiske svenske gitarristen Staffan Astner.

And yes, a performance with the bluesman, guitarist and singer Eric Bibb always enriches you, it´s a musical journey as well as spiritual one.

Living in Scandinavia, he has, throughout the last say 20 years, conquered the world -  even his native country US. He is a playing nomad, searching for territories of new expressions, new impressions and new sources for his musical conception.

Maybe some of the secrets behind Eric Bibb´s great artistic contribution might be revealed in his soulful and gospel incfluenced blues barytone voice, in his beautiful and swinging guitar picking style or by the way he combines old school americana with contemporary reflections and expressions.

At the festival in Umeå he´s preforming with a fabulous swedish guitarist - the great Staffan Astner - and maybe the duo format is the ideal setting for the world class artistry of Eric Bibb.
